There are few anglers in New Zealand who do not know Chris Dore, wether personally, or through his many writings and presentations.
Chris is a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor, Member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Assn and dedicates much time and effort to providing fly fishing and casting education throughout NZ.
Hailing from Dunedin. Chris first picked up a fly rod at age of 10, and by the age of 13 had well and truly become an obsessive trout fisherman.
Since then, Chris has introduced countless people to fly fishing, and tutored them in all aspects of this sport as an FFF Certified Casting Instructor. For the past 10 years, Chris has been commissioned as an instructional correspondent to several NZ fishing publications, among them NZ Fisherman, Southern Fishing and Boating, Fishing Action, and at present, the NZ Troutfisher Magazine, NZ's top selling trout focused publication. Chris lives for fly-fishing. His passion, technical skill and knowledge of his waters has earned him a place on the CD Rods Pro Network, and he is regularly consulted by angling clubs and individuals for speaking opportunities and information / insight on local waters.
As a guide, Chris is in his element. There is nothing he enjoys more than the challenge of putting others onto quality fish, and sharing his knowledge of the Otago and Southland regions. Chris’ guiding focuses heavily on the instructional aspects of fly fishing – he wants you to become a better angler wether through stream craft, casting prowess or your overall appreciation of the river.
